Duhamel: I expect Russian skaters will be competitive at the Olympics
The Olympic champion in Canada Megan Duel appreciated the admission of Russian skaters for the selection for the 2026 Olympic Games. It is reported by “All -Sport”.
Duel expects that Russian skaters in any case will be competitive on the OI. “But the International Skating Union (ISU) issued very strict rules of admission, so I don’t even know which skaters will meet these criteria in order to get the right to participate in competitions,” she added.
In December 2024, ISU announced the admission of Russians for the selection for games-2026, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina-D’Ampezzo. In qualification competitions, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline in neutral status.
Russian athletes were forbidden to perform at tournaments under the auspices of ISU in March 2022. The last major start for domestic skaters were Beijing games.
