Russian boxer Dmitry Dvali, who suffered an eye injury in a fight in Crimea, has had his post-operative bandage removed, VGTRK reports.
According to the source, the athlete’s eye is still blind. Doctors say that full restoration of vision will take time. Dvali’s trainer Ivan Shchelok told RIA Novosti that the boxer will have to undergo several more surgeries.
On August 8, it was reported that during the operation in Moscow, doctors were able to save Dvali’s eye. The athlete spent four hours on the operating table. So far, all that is known for sure is that he will not need an eye prosthesis. The boxer will undergo the recovery process under the supervision of doctors.
According to preliminary data, Dvali received an eye injury in Feodosia while defending a teenager who was being beaten. It was specified that about 15 people attacked the boxer and his companions. According to the Baza Telegram channel, Dvali was returning from a club in a drunken state and was beaten by a crowd of men for pestering a girl.
