American skateboarder Houston criticizes quality of medals at Paris Olympics
American skateboarder Nyjah Huston criticized the quality of the Olympic medals at the 2024 Games in Paris. He spoke about this on Instagram (a social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).
The US athlete who won bronze at the tournament said the trophy looked great when it was brand new. “But they started to look worse after I let my friends wear them for a while over the weekend. They’re obviously not as high quality as you’d think,” Houston said.
He also noted that the front of his medal was starting to chip. “It looks like it’s been to war and back,” the skateboarder added.
The Olympics will end on August 11. Russian athletes are competing in the competitions as neutrals.
