Olympic Champion Mekhontsev Supports Boxer Dvali Who Was Injured in Fight
Olympic boxing champion Yegor Mekhontsev supported Russian boxer Dmitry Dvali, who was previously seriously injured in a mass brawl in Feodosia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Mekhontsev called Dvali a very good and sympathetic person. “No matter what kind of boxer you are, you have no chance against the crowd. I am sure that one on one he would have knocked any of them out cold,” he said.
The athlete also expressed hope that law enforcement officers would sort everything out. He called the attackers “a bunch of animals.”
A fight involving a young athlete took place in Feodosia on July 28. Dvali, his brother and assistant cutman saw a crowd of men beating up a teenager. When the young men came to the aid of the young man, his offenders turned on them. After the fight, Dvali had an eye operation. At the moment, the court has remanded nine participants in the conflict in custody.
