Oroz, Turrientes and Pacheco qualify, with the Spanish national team, for the final of the Olympic Games

Aimar Oroz, Beñat Turrientes and Jon Pacheco have qualified, this Monday, for the final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Gamesin the football competition, with the Spanish national team, and, in this way, they have secured a New medal for Basque sport at these Games. In the semi-final held in Marseille, Spain has won, 1-2, against Morocco; Fermín and Juanlu scored for Spain, while Rahimi, with a penalty, had put the Moroccan team ahead. Aimar Oroz was a starter and played the entire match, and Beñat Turrientes was included in the final minutes.
Spain had the quality and strength to turn things around in a game that had become difficult for them after their opponent’s opening goal. The first half was even, although Morocco had periods in which they controlled the midfield more. In the 37th minute, Soufiane Rahimi converted a clear penalty to make it 1-0. Baena could have equalised before the break, but his shot hit the post.
The second half showed a superior Spanish team. With decisiveness in attack and thanks to the speed and skill of Fermín, who played a remarkable game, the team coached by Santi Denia equalised in the 65th minute, and in the 85th, scored the second and final goal, which gave them qualification.
In this way, the three Basque players called up by Spain are in with a chance of winning the gold medal, and they already know that, if they are unable to do so, they will return to Euskal Herria with the silver medal. Sergi Gómez, a new signing for Real Sociedad, also played.
