This was the second friendly match for the team led by coach Xabi Alonso in 2023/24. In the first, the German team beat Rot-Weiss Essen 2-1.
Bayer Leverkusen returns to the field next Wednesday, at 2 pm (Brasília time), to face Arsenal, at the Emirates Stadium, in another friendly match.

The game
Bayer Leverkusen opened the scoring early in the game, five minutes into the first half. The German team’s new signing, striker Martin Terrier, scored the first goal of the game.
At the end of the first half, in the 44th minute, Lens equalized. Wesley Saïd received a cross in the area and headed it into the back of the net.
Florian Wirtz put Bayer Leverkusen ahead again six minutes into the second half. Aleix Garcia delivered a fine pass to the midfielder, who fired a first-time shot into the corner to find the net.
Lens equalised again in the 37th minute. Jonathan Gradit advanced through the middle and fired a beautiful shot into the left corner to score the final goal of the match.
