Lazio director rules out possible signing of James Rodríguez

After reaching an agreement to terminate his contract with São Paulo, with only the official announcement pending, James Rodríguez has been linked to several European clubs, including Lazio. However, Angelo Fabiani, the Italian team’s football director, ruled out the possibility of signing the Colombian.

“I will never sign James Rodriguez. He is a 33-year-old boy, in the last few years he has never played more than 12 or 13 matches. He had a reasonably good Copa América, but the new method of signing is for younger players. Signing the boy for a year or two would go against all logic,” he told Radio I Knowfrom Italy.

James Rodríguez, who recently completed a year at São Paulo, did not live up to expectations on the field. In total, he played 22 matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

Despite not having a great performance for the Tricolor Paulista, the midfielder was elected the best player of the Copa América. Playing for Colombia, he reached the final of the competition, losing to Argentina in extra time, 1-0.

Now, James’ future is still uncertain. He has already played for big clubs in the European Championship, such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Porto.
