Director who worked on the opening of the Sochi Games pointed out the difference between the ceremony in Paris

Director Yakovlevsky spoke about the differences between the opening ceremonies of the Games in Paris and Sochi

Unlike the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi, no technological solutions were used in Paris, noted director and founder of the design studio, who participated in the preparation of the event in 2014, Dmitry Yakovlevsky. He pointed out the difference in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

“The emphasis was more on pyrotechnic solutions, and, in principle, on choreography, songs at our Olympics. We showed everything more with decorations, technologies, some technologies even flew into the stadium, and choreography was built around them. And here there are simply dances everywhere on different buildings, but no technological solutions were used,” the director said.

The opening ceremony of the Games took place on July 26. The Greek media called it the collapse of civilization because transvestites portrayed the Last Supper.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) later apologized, saying that there was no intention by organizers to show disrespect to any religious group and that the purpose of the opening ceremony was to celebrate community and tolerance.

The 2024 Olympics are taking place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the Games as individual neutral athletes. A total of 15 Russian athletes will compete in the French capital.
