Man in bright swim trunks storms 2024 Olympic women’s swim for a hat
A man in brightly coloured swimming trunks stormed into the women’s 100m preliminary heats at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as broadcast on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) website.
The incident occurred after American Emma Webber lost her swimming cap in the pool. Afterwards, an unknown man approached the lane, jumped into the pool and retrieved the cap. In response, the spectators began to applaud the man and whistle enthusiastically.
Webber finished 23rd in the qualifying heats and failed to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament. The Olympic swimming competitions run from July 27 to August 4.
The 2024 Olympics are taking place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the Games as individual neutral athletes. A total of 15 Russian athletes will compete in the French capital.
