Lithuanian swimmer Rute Meilutyte entered the Olympic 100m breaststroke semi-final under a neutral flag due to an error by the organizers, a Lenta.ru correspondent reports.
The athlete was unable to reach the final of the competition, and came in 11th. When the girl was going out to swim, a flag appeared behind her, under which Russians and Belarusians compete in a neutral status.
The 2024 Olympics are taking place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians have been admitted to the Games as individual neutral athletes. A total of 15 Russian athletes will compete in the French capital.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics took place in Paris on July 26. For the first time, the event was held not in a stadium, but in the city, including on the Seine, along which ships with artists and delegations of countries sailed.
