Filippo: Almost one and a half billion euros were spent on the needless cleaning of the Seine
The rain that fell in Paris on July 26-27 made in vain the efforts of the authorities to clean the Seine River, in whose waters a training swim for a triathlon was to take place, the leader of the Patriots party Florian Philippot said on his page on a social network. X (formerly Twitter).
The politician was outraged that 1.4 billion euros were spent on cleaning the Seine for this swim. However, due to rain and pollution of the river, the sporting event was cancelled.
It was previously reported that the organisers, who cancelled the training swim, stated that the water conditions “do not provide sufficient guarantees”.
Earlier, Filippo said that even a carefully selected audience booed French President Emmanuel Macron at the opening of the Olympics in Paris. According to the oppositionist, the relevant fragment was cut from the broadcast.
