Five Russians entered the top 25 best NHL players of the 21st century

ESPN included Ovechkin and Malkin in the top 25 NHL players of the 21st century

ESPN has compiled a top 25 list of the best National Hockey League (NHL) players of the 21st century and included five Russians. The list is available on the channel’s website.

The best domestic player was Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin. The 2018 Stanley Cup winner, who ranks second on the list of the best snipers in NHL history, was in second place. Also in the top 10 was Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin. The three-time Stanley Cup winner was placed in ninth place.

Also included in the rankings were Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, his teammate, goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, and former Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk. They took 17th, 19th, and 22nd places, respectively.

The new NHL season begins on October 4. The current Stanley Cup champions are the Florida Panthers.
