Dominik Hasek expressed regret over participation of Russian athletes in 2024 Olympics
Olympic champion and two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek expressed regret about the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He spoke out on his account on the X social network.
The hockey player stressed that he has no complaints about the athletes themselves. “They do not set the rules. Responsibility for this lies with the French legislators who allowed Russian citizens to compete on their territory,” Hasek said.
He also accused officials of the International Olympic Committee of advertising Russia. According to Hasek, the Olympic Games are responsible for the human lives that have been lost in the fighting in Ukraine.
Since February 2022, Hasek has been actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes. He called on NHL executives to resign because of their position on Russia. The Czech also refused to consider the NHL All-Star Game a holiday and called the presence of Russian hockey players at the event disgusting advertising.
