Rubin player punished for joke reveals emotions from Prosecutor General’s Office investigation of his words

Bezrukov, who was fined for a joke, spoke about his fears due to the Prosecutor General’s Office inspection

Rubin footballer Ruslan Bezrukov, punished for a joke after the Russian championship match against St. Petersburg’s Zenit, revealed his emotions from the Prosecutor General’s Office’s investigation of his words. The player is quoted by Sport24.

The midfielder said he was scared. “Common sense seemed to say: ‘How is this possible because of a joke?’ On the other hand, I was still very worried. Who am I that deputies or TV stars would talk about me? It was uncomfortable,” Bezrukov noted.

On June 4, the Ethics Committee of the Russian Football Union decided to punish Bezrukov: the player was suspended for three months and fined 100 thousand rubles. On April 24, Bezrukov jokingly demanded a bonus from Krasnodar for the victory over Zenit in the Russian championship match.

Bezrukov has been playing for Rubin since 2022. In the first match of the national championship of the current season, he made an assist.
