Kafelnikov reveals attitude towards Russians competing at 2024 Olympics

Yevgeny Kafelnikov calls for support for Russians competing at the 2024 Olympics

Former Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov revealed his attitude towards his compatriots who will compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.

According to the ex-athlete, one should be proud of the athletes. “Unlike some domestic leaders, I do not consider those who are going to Paris in a neutral status to be “homeless”, “traitors” and “a team of foreign agents”. They need support. Let’s root for them!” Kafelnikov urged.

The former tennis player added that it is necessary to participate in the Games at any opportunity. “The Olympics are the pinnacle of an athlete’s career. The main start of the four-year period. Many people work their whole lives for the chance to get there,” Kafelnikov added.

The Russian has won two Grand Slam singles titles and four doubles titles. He is also the 2000 Olympic singles champion.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place on July 26, the competition will end on August 11. Russians have been admitted to the Games as neutrals, and 15 Russian athletes will compete in Paris.
