Russians will refuse to go to the 2025 Olympics in eSports as neutrals
Russian athletes will refuse to travel to the first eSports Olympics, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025, in a neutral status. This was reported to Izvestia by the Russian Federation of Electronic Sports.
The organization emphasized that they would gladly accept an invitation to the Games if the Russians were allowed to perform with their flag and anthem. They also said that they support any popularization of eSports.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the creation of the Olympic eSports Games. The decision was made unanimously at the organization’s session in Paris.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris will take place on July 26, the Games will end on August 11. Fifteen Russian athletes will compete in the competition as neutrals, seven of whom are tennis players.
