Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina withdraws from 2024 Olympics

Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the 2024 Olympic Games. Her name has disappeared from the list of athletes participating in the tournament on the website of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The reasons for missing the competition are not reported. In the singles, her place will be taken by Australian Daria Saville. In addition, Rybakina was supposed to play in the mixed doubles with Alexander Bublik – their pair also disappeared from the application.

Rybakina, 25, is a native of Moscow and represented Russia in competitions until 2018. She is ranked fourth by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). In 2022, the athlete won Wimbledon.

The tennis tournament at the 2024 Olympics will be held from July 27 to August 4. It was previously reported that the world’s number one tennis player, Italian Jannik Sinner, will miss the competition due to tonsillitis.
