Olympic Organizing Committee: Argentina vs. Morocco game delayed due to Moroccan fans
The organizing committee for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris explained the two-hour delay in the men’s football match between Argentina and Morocco, according to a representative of the organizing committee, quoted by CBC Sports.
The source stressed that this was due to the behavior of Moroccan fans who ran onto the pitch. “Paris 2024 is working to understand the reasons for this incident and determine the appropriate actions,” the organizing committee said.
Earlier, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) filed a complaint with the International Football Federation (FIFA). The organization demanded that FIFA ensure the safety of the football players.
On July 24, it became known that the match of the first round of the group stage of the men’s football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris between the national teams of Argentina and Morocco was played in two hours. The Africans won with a score of 2:1.
