IBA chief Umar Kremlev announces investigation into IOC chief Bach
The President of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Russian Umar Kremlev, announced on his Telegram channel the beginning of an investigation against the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Kremlin demanded that IOC President Thomas Bach and his team resign immediately. “During Bach’s tenure, the IOC has significantly deteriorated, ceasing to be an organization that unites athletes and serves our sport,” he said.
Earlier, the IOC decided during its session in Paris to exclude IBA from the list of recognized sports federations. Athletes representing national federations that are members of the IBA will be banned from participating in the 2028 Olympics.
In October 2022, the IBA admitted Russian and Belarusian boxers to competitions under its auspices. At the same time, representatives of the countries were allowed to compete with their flag and anthem.
