Alexander Ovechkin said he has less than $100 million in his accounts
Russian forward and captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin revealed his financial status in an interview with the YouTube channel “Khach’s Diary”.
Ovechkin said that he has less than 100 million dollars in his accounts. “But what if you take everything, there are taxes? If there were 100 million, I wouldn’t be sitting here, I would be relaxing right now, drinking beer, not water,” the hockey player said.
Ovechkin added that he invests in real estate in Russia. He noted that in the US, a house in Washington and an apartment in Miami are enough for him.
Ovechkin, 38, is second on the list of all-time NHL snipers, with 853 goals in regular seasons. The record for this statistic belongs to Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who has 894 goals.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and has played for Washington throughout his overseas career. In 2018, he and the team won the Stanley Cup.
