Hockey player Podkolzin: foreigners have a negative attitude towards Russia’s disqualification
Forward of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Vancouver Canucks Vasily Podkolzin spoke about the attitude of his foreign teammates to the disqualification of the Russian national team. His words are quoted by Izvestia.
The hockey player said that his teammates have a negative attitude towards the disqualification of the Russians, since international tournaments have lost a strong team. “The Swedes tell me that the World Championship is not the same without Russia. The level has dropped without our team,” he said.
Podkolzin was drafted by Vancouver in 2019 and signed a three-year contract with the team last May.
In February, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian national teams until the 2024/2025 season. The reason for this decision was current security risks.
