Dynamo Kyiv refused to shake hands with Serbian Partizan players
Dynamo Kyiv has refused all greeting handshakes before matches with Partizan Belgrade in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The words of the Ukrainian club’s head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskiy are quoted on the team’s YouTube channel.
Shovkovskiy said that he was perplexed by the trip of Serbian Partizan to Moscow for a friendly tournament with Dynamo and CSKA. He emphasized that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian clubs from all international competitions. “Our position is based solely on the actions of Partizan,” the coach added.
Dynamo Kyiv will face Partizan in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The matches will be held on July 23 in Lublin, Poland, and on July 31 in Belgrade.
Earlier, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that Ukrainian athletes were allowed not to greet Russians during the 2024 Olympic Games. In his opinion, the main thing is that there are no provocations against Ukrainian athletes.
