Alexander Ovechkin Calls Donald Trump’s Assassination Attempt Stupid
Russian forward of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin responded to the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. He spoke out on Amiran Sardarov’s YouTube channel.
The athlete called the incident stupid. “I don’t understand how you can take a person’s life. Even if you hate him… Thank God he survived,” Ovechkin noted.
The player also said that he does not like to discuss politics in the US. “All my friends, really, everyone I talk to, are all Republicans. I don’t know a single Democrat,” Ovechkin added.
An attempt on Trump’s life was made on July 13 during his speech at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. He was shot in the ear. The shooter was eliminated by Secret Service agents.
