A dream school is established in Japan. You will have to play games to pass

For decades, Japanese have been very much involved in computer games and the esports version of this entertainment. Now they are going a step further with the creation of Esports Koutou Gakuin. It will be an esports high school, the first of its kind in the world.

Graduation games

Commenting, competing, streaming, knowledge about games, creating scenarios – this is what the lessons of students who start their education at Esports Koutou Gakuin will look like. This is the world’s first esports school to be established in Shibuya, Japan. Its opening is scheduled for April 2022.

Students who cross the thresholds of this institution will be able to choose different career paths. The school is supposed to educate future esports players, streamers, content creators, programmers, but also people responsible for creating games or scenarios for them. The range of possibilities is therefore wide, and moreover, students will also have subjects known from traditional schools. Esports lessons will be an addition, but a strong emphasis will be placed on it. Finally, Esports Koutou Gakuin is to give Japanese children the opportunity to take their first steps in the world of gaming and esports.

Professional facilities

The first esports school in the world will have some really impressive facilities. It is enough to look at the pictures of the rooms in which the students will learn to understand the scale of this undertaking. Children will use computers with the newest components.

In addition, practitioners, people who know esport and gaming from the inside out, will become teachers. So the students will have classes with professional esports players who have finished their careers or are active players.

Where will the money come from? The school will be financed by the mobile operator NTT and the football team Tokyo Verdy. Managers from both companies will also be on the school’s pedagogical council and will be able to advise students as well as oversee the entire learning process.

Esports Koutou Gakuin is the next step towards esports development. So far, we have only known classes with an esports profile – several dozen of them also function in Poland. In Japan, however, an entire high school will be created, educating people in the direction of esports and gaming, with much better equipment and teachers who are not only theoreticians. Therefore, such an initiative could bring much better results.
