Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE) signed this Saturday his fifth stage victory In this edition of the Tour de Francethe second consecutive one dressed in yellow, by beating the Dane in the final sprint Jonas Vingegaard (Visma), which solidified its second place overall.

Pogacar now has a lead of 5.14 minutes over Vingegaard, with Sunday’s time trial still to come, which will close the Tour with little suspense.

The Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal), who tried to attack second place in the general classification, ended up losing 53 seconds at the finish, so that he is now 8.04 seconds behind the leader and 2.50 seconds behind Vingegaard, a lead that will be difficult to make up in the 33.7 kilometres of the time trial, even for the world champion in the discipline.

The third at the finish line was the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (EFE), who led the two previous climbs, ensuring he would take the final mountain jersey.
Enrique Mas (Movistar), who accompanied him in the breakaway, finished fifth at the finish and was chosen as the most combative rider of the day.

Mikel Landa (Soudal), who worked for Evenepoel, finished eighth, 13 seconds behind the Portuguese Joao Alemeida (UAE), with whom he is engaged in a battle for fourth place in the general classification, which the UAE cyclist now occupies with a 40-second lead.

The Tour will end this Sunday with the twenty-first and final stage, a 33.7km individual time trial between Monaco and Nice which will crown the champion of the 2024 edition. For the first time in its 111-year history, the race will bid farewell away from the Champs-Élysées in the French capital.
