Russian Isinbayeva to Leave IOC Athletes’ Commission After 2024 Olympics
Two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting Yelena Isinbayeva will leave the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This was reported on the organization’s website.
Isinbayeva will leave her post after the 2024 Olympic Games due to the expiration of her term. A total of four members will leave the commission, with 29 candidates vying for their places.
The IOC had previously conducted an investigation into Isinbayeva. The commission concluded that the former athlete could continue working for the organization, as she had not supported the special operation in Ukraine and had no contract with the Russian army or security forces.
Isinbayeva is a two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting and holds 28 world records in the event. She has been a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
