2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony on Brink of Disruption Due to Artists’ Strikes
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is on the verge of disruption, The Mirror reports, citing the Union of French Performing Artists (SFA).
“With dress rehearsals for the ceremonies now underway, we regret to announce that we will be serving a notice of industrial action for the show on 26 July 2024, as well as for the following rehearsals for the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies,” the SFA said. The organisation was unhappy with the working conditions of the artists, the unequal treatment and the lack of social dialogue during the run-up to the ceremonies.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place on July 26. The event, which is scheduled to take place on the River Seine, will feature 3,000 artists and 400 dancers.
Earlier it became known that Russian athletes would miss the ceremony. “AIN (individual neutral athletes) will not participate in the delegation parade during the opening ceremony, as they are individual athletes,” the International Olympic Committee explained.
