Medical science candidate Andrey Kondrakhin described the possible consequences of swimming in the Seine for French officials. His words are quoted by “360”.
According to him, in the summer, the development of microorganisms in water accelerates. “Warm water contains more decay products and, accordingly, microorganisms. Of course, this is a great danger to people,” the doctor noted.
Kondrakhin added that the consequences of being in dirty water can be very serious, even fatal. “A person who is not an athlete has a hard time with intestinal infections – especially with great physical exertion and on an empty stomach,” the doctor said.
Hidalgo swam in the Seine before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics on July 17. She wanted to prove that the river was safe for competitions. The head of the Olympic organizing committee, Tony Estanguet, took part in the swim with her. A few days earlier, French Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera swam in the Seine.
