Zhurova called the boomerang law the possibility of depriving the US of the right to the Olympics
Olympic champion, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova responded to reports that the United States may be deprived of the right to host the Olympic Games in 2028 and 2034 due to the “Rodchenkov Law” and the “Chinese swimmers’ case.” In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the deputy called the possibility of depriving the United States of the right to host the Olympics the boomerang law.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, the first president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Richard Pound said that the “Rodchenkov Act” and the Chinese swimmers’ case jeopardized the holding of the Olympic Games in the United States in 2028 and 2034. “This law is not in compliance with the anti-doping code. I think one of the steps that WADA will take is to refer this issue to a compliance review committee. I think if or when this issue is reviewed, the United States will be declared non-compliant. That means the United States will not be able to host the Olympic Games,” Pound said.
“If WADA wants to look like an independent organization in the future, given how it treated us, then America should be next, and the investigations should concern America itself. Apparently, the US put a lot of pressure on WADA, and that’s why WADA snapped like that,” Zhurova believes.

On April 20, it became known that in January 2021, the banned drug trimetazidine was found in samples from 23 Chinese swimmers. China said traces of the drug were found in the kitchen of the hotel where the athletes were staying. WADA considered that there was no evidence of doping, so the swimmers were allowed to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.
USADA CEO Travis Tygart accused WADA and the Chinese agency CHINADA of concealing information. Later, the US questioned the independence of the prosecutor appointed to investigate the case.
