Alexander Ovechkin Enters ESPN’s Top 100 Athletes of the 21st Century
Russian forward of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin was included in the top 100 best athletes of the 21st century according to the American TV channel ESPN. This was reported on the channel’s website.
The Russian came in 54th place. He beat out footballer Kylian Mbappe (65th place), boxer Manny Pacquiao (71), and two other footballers: Ronaldo (87) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (95).
At this point, ESPN has released the list up to number 51. The rest of the rankings will be released later.
Ovechkin has been playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) since 2005, and has played for Washington throughout his overseas career. The Russian is the 2018 Stanley Cup winner. He has won the World Championship three times as part of the Russian national team.
