Pienaar wins the last stage and Longo Borghini the Giro d’Italia
Basque: Start the last stage and continue the Giro d’Italia
The Italian cyclist Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl Trek) was awarded this Sunday the 35th edition of the Giro d’Italia 2024 by managing to maintain the lead in the eighth and final stage between Pescara and L’Aquila (117 km). The last stage, which was contested in the format of a time trialthe Mauritanian has taken her Kimberley Pienaar (Soudal) by beating Ruth Edwars (Human) and Franziska Koch (DSM) in the final metres.
