Spain captain Morata looks ahead to final against England: “We are one step away from making history”

This Saturday, striker Álvaro Morata, captain of Spain, revealed his expectations regarding the Euro Cup final against England, and showed confidence for the decision. The match will be held this Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany.

“I’ve been saying for four months that we’re going to win the European Championship. It would mean a lot to win the European Championship with my country,” he said in a video published by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Despite this, the center forward guaranteed respect for the opposing country. National teams reach the final in different ways. While Spain has a 100% success rate, England struggled during some knockout and group stage matches to qualify for the final.

“We have a lot of respect for England, as a country and as a team, it’s one of the best in the world and in history. They have one of the best leagues in the world. I have friends, like Trippier.”

Morata also highlighted the quality of the Spanish national team’s squad and was full of praise for young striker Lamine Yamal, who has just turned 17.

“Yamal is different from everyone else. He, Nico (Williams) and Dani Olmo. For me they are all very good. I would say to you the whole squad. We are showing that we are great players. We are one step away from making history”, he said.
