With just over six months working as a player agent after ending his career as a professional player at the end of 2023, former striker Diogo, who played for clubs such as Portuguese, Palm trees, Santos e Flamengohas been exploring a market he knows well: Thailand.
Diogo, who played for six years in the Southeast Asian country and is still considered the best foreigner to have played in the country, has been opening doors for other Brazilians to showcase their talent there. The former striker has already brokered the transfer of four compatriots to Buriram United, the current national champion.
In January, Diogo brokered the transfer of striker Guilherme Bissoli, formerly of Athletico, Avaí and Ceará, to the main Thai club. In six months at Buriram, Bissoli scored 16 goals in 15 games in the Thai League, becoming one of the team’s key players in winning the last Thai Championship.
This week, the former player who came through Portuguesa’s doors is in Thailand to attend the presentation of three more Brazilian professionals who had their transfers brokered by him: coach Osmar Loss (ex-Corinthians and Internacional), who was in Iran, midfielder Matheus Vargas, ex-Juventude, and striker Chrigor, who played in the Paulistão for Portuguesa. With this, Buriram United now has 4 Brazilian players in its squad, since in addition to Bissoli, Matheus Vargas and Chrigor, the team has midfielder Lucas Crispim, ex-Fortaleza, as well as coach Osmar Loss.
Diogo is considered the best foreign player to have ever played in Thailand and for Buriram United he scored 133 goals in 156 games, as well as winning 11 titles with the club.
