Synchronized swimmer Alla Shishkina said that athletes are unpopular in Russia
Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Alla Shishkina assessed the popularity of athletes in Russia. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
“Professional athletes, unless they are from football, hockey or figure skating, are not popular. However, I already accept this too,” Shishkina said. At the same time, the synchronized swimmer noted that in Russia, sports have become more popular from the point of view of physical education.
Last summer, three-time Olympic figure skating champion and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina spoke about the popularity of football player Artem Dzyuba. She found it difficult to answer the question of whether the 34-year-old forward is the most famous athlete in Russia.
Shishkina is an Olympic champion in group exercises at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Games. She has also won 14 world championships.
