Last Tuesday, in a match valid for the Copa América semifinals, Argentina faced Canada and won 2-0. One of the goals for the Argentine team was scored by Messi, who, with the goal, became the athlete who scored the most goals in the Copa América, with six. Now, the star shares the top spot on the list with Zizinho, an idol of the Brazilian National Team.
In total, Messi has participated in seven editions of the continental tournament (2007, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2024), and has failed to score a goal in just one (2011). With 14 goals scored, he is the fifth player with the most goals scored in the history of the competition, alongside Chilean Vargas and Peruvian Paolo Guerrero.

Zizinho, a midfielder who represented Brazil in the 1940s and 1950s, scored in all six editions of the Copa América he played in, between 1942 and 1957. The player is also the top scorer in the history of the tournament, with 17 goals.
In second place on the list, with goals scored in five different editions, are Ángel Romano (Uruguay), Ildefonso López (Paraguay), Hector Scarone (Uruguay), Teodoro Fernández (Peru) and Paolo Guerrero (Peru). The former Corinthians striker did not score in this Copa América and missed the chance to reach first place.
