Zabaleta and Gaminde show off against Aldai and Mendizabal (13-22)
The couples match that has faced Amaia Aldai and Nora Mendizabal with Goiuri Zabaleta and Enara Gaminde was the one in charge of opening this second day of the “Plazandreak”. Aldai and Mendizabal had won in the first day and a second victory would have put them directly into the final. But it was not to be.
The Very young Zabaleta (15 years old) and Gaminde (17 years old) have proven to be a solid coupleconsistent and very well coordinated. They dominated the scoreboard from the first goals, with a 1-6 in their favour which was a preview of what the rest of the match was going to be like.
The Navarrese match deserves special mention Goiuri Zabaleta in the front, that of Leitza has given a real exhibition against an Amaia Aldai who did not know how to deal with her. Dropped balls, balls out wide… Zabaleta was a nightmare for her rivals.
In the red ones, Aldai has tried to protect his defender entering many balls, but Dima’s forward line has not had its best day and has made numerous mistakes. That, against a blue pair that has not left a gap on the entire court, has determined their fate in the match.
In the duel of the rearguard, Nora Mendizabal has done what she could against a Enara Gaminde who has confirmed once again that she is one of the best current events.
With this scenario, the blue couple has had comfortable advantages throughout the entire match: 3-7, 4-11, 7-14, 9-21… Only at the end did the Colorados manage to improve the result somewhat with a partial score of 4-0.
After 53 minutes of play and 466 hits, Zabaleta and Gaminde finally won by 13-22 and added their first victory in this third edition from “Plazandreak”.
Four and a half
In the match corresponding to Cuatro y Medio, Maddalen Etxegarai and Miriam Arrillaga have starred in a very close match. At the start, Arrillaga, the only defender of the four pelotaris competing in the cage, has made use of her greater punch to quickly get ahead by 1-9.
When everything pointed to a quick and relatively simple match for Aginaga, Etxegarai has reacted and has come within two goals (7-9)but his rival has pulled out all the stops to open up a gap again and finally win by 12-18. First victory for Arrillaga after 47 minutes of play.
