With a goal and an assist from Dani Olmo, Spain beat Germany 2-1 last Friday in the quarter-finals of the European Championship. The Spanish midfielder was named the best player of the match, but highlighted the team’s commitment against the Germans.
“On an individual level, I think it’s almost impossible to play a better game, but the team played an incredible game, fighting until the end. Then, with that goal from Germany in the last minute, you go into extra time. But how did we keep playing that extra time? We were tired and that goal in the last minute from Mikel Merino. It was a very, very good game from the whole group and we came out more than stronger,” said Dani Olmo, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Sports world.

With the result against host Germany, Spain qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship. In the next phase, the Spanish will face France, who eliminated Portugal on penalties. Dani Olmo said that the French have a great team and do not depend only on Mbappé.
“Ultimately, Mbappé is a different player and we have to be careful, but they also have players who can make a difference like Dembélé, Griezmann, Kanté, who is also having a very good tournament. Mbappé is a player we have to worry about, but we will be prepared,” said Dani Olmo.
Spain and France will face each other in the Euro Cup semi-finals this Tuesday, at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
