Basque: Elisa Longo from Giroko leads, premieres the contest
Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) has won the first stage of the 2024 Giro d’Italiaa time trial of 15.7 kilometers with start and finish in Brescia, in which The Italian has put on the leader’s jersey.
Longo has recorded a time of 20 minutes and 37 seconds. Grace Brown (FDJ-Suez) was second, one second behind and Brodie Champman (Lidl-Trek) third at 11 seconds. Usoa Ostolaza (Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi) finished the time trial 1 minute and 44 seconds behind of the winner, while Ane Santesteban (Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi) finished 2 minutes and 19 seconds later.
Therefore, Elisa Longo Borghini leads the general classificationl, Brown is second to one second and Champman third to 11.
