Irish footballers accuse coaches of harassment

Irish women’s footballers accuse FAI coaches of sexual abuse in 1990s

Several female footballers have accused Football Association of Ireland (FAI) coaches of sexual abuse dating back to the 1990s, the Irish Independent reported.

The players said they were sexually abused by manager Eamonn Collins, who is now a football agent. Former player Lynn Winters, who was captain at the time, said she went on dates with the 31-year-old manager when she was 18. She said Collins touched her intimately.

Collins was sacked by the FAI in March 2024 and a complaint against him was the subject of a police investigation, although he has denied any allegations of improper conduct.

In May, Australian figure skater Brendan Curry was banned for life for sexual abuse of minors. A report by the US Center for Safe Sport alleged that Curry had repeatedly had sexual intercourse with underage skaters while intoxicated.
