The Spanish Federation confirmed on Saturday that Pedri’s injury was a lateral sprain in his left knee. The Barcelona midfielder was the target of a hard challenge from Germany’s Toni Kroos around the eighth minute of play in Friday’s Euro 2016 quarter-final clash between Spain and Germany, which the Spanish side won 2-1 in extra time.
The player had to be replaced shortly after by Dani Olmo, who scored Spain’s first goal of the match in the second half. According to the Spanish press, the sprain will force Pedri, 21, to be out of action for about a month, but he is expected to return for the start of the season with Barcelona.
