Ronaldo says Portugal deserved more at Euro 2024
Forward Cristiano Ronaldo addressed fans on his page on the social network X after the elimination of the Portuguese national team from the 2024 European Championship, which is being held in Germany.
“We wanted more. We deserved more. For us. For each of you. For Portugal,” the player wrote. He thanked the fans for their support at the tournament and expressed confidence that, on and off the pitch, the legacy left by the current team will be honored and will continue to be built.
Earlier it became known that Ronaldo for the first time in his career was left without goals at a major international tournament among national teams. At Euro 2024, in which Portugal stopped competing at the quarter-final stage, the 39-year-old Portuguese played all five matches. Ronaldo has one assist.
Portugal lost to France in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024. The teams failed to score in regular and extra time, and the French were more accurate in the penalty shootout.
