Last season, the 24-year-old alternated between the starting line-up and the bench. In total, he played 29 games and provided two assists. Having arrived in January 2023, he ends his time at Real Betis with 45 appearances.
Abner was discovered by Ponte Preta, but played little for the São Paulo club. The club where the left back stood out in Brazilian football was Athletico-PR. There, he won the 2021 Copa Sudamericana.
His good performance in the Paraná team led him to compete in the Tokyo Olympics for the Brazilian team. As such, the athlete was part of the team that won the gold medal in the competition.
Once he makes his debut, Abner Vinícius will become the 27th Brazilian player to wear the Lyon shirt.
