Daily Faceoff Calls Zadorov’s Contract with Boston One of the Worst in the NHL Market
The contract of the Russian player Nikita Zadorov with the Boston Bruins club was called one of the worst in the National Hockey League (NHL) market. The anti-rating was published on the Daily Faceoff website.
The defenseman signed a six-year, $5 million-a-year deal on the first day of free agency, July 1. The publication believes that Boston overpaid for the Russian. “They’re paying big money for a player like Zadorov when they should really be looking for the next Zadorov, who will cost much less,” the article says.
In the 2023/2024 season, Zadorov played for the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, where he was traded during the tournament. In the regular season, he played 75 games, scoring 6 goals and making 14 assists.
Zadorov is a product of Moscow CSKA. He has been playing in North America since 2012. In addition to Calgary and Vancouver, the Russian played for the Colorado Avalanche, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, as well as the London Knights and San Antonio Rampage.
