After a spectacular season with Girona, Brazilian Savinho was one of the standout players in the Spanish Championship. The 20-year-old forward’s excellent performances caught the attention of Dorival Júnior, who called him up for the Copa América in the United States. Outside of the national team, Manchester City is negotiating the signing of the player, but is waiting for UEFA’s approval to announce it.
Savinho spent last season on loan at Girona, a Spanish club controlled by the City Group. The team that owns the striker’s rights is Troyes, from France, another team owned by the company. After Savinho’s great season, Manchester City, the franchise’s biggest club, plans to negotiate the purchase of the player and have him permanently.

However, the English club is awaiting UEFA’s approval to announce the striker. The entity is analyzing the legitimacy of the transfer, since the player belongs to a team in the City Group.
UEFA monitors transfers involving teams from the same company, aiming to define fair values for transfers. This way, smaller teams receive the profit they are due and clubs considered big do not sign top players for ridiculous amounts.
Last season, Savinho played 41 games, scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists. A key player in Girona’s squad, the player helped the Spanish club finish third in La Liga, which earned the Catalan team qualification for next season’s Champions League.
