UFC Fighter McGregor Calls Cristiano Ronaldo the Greatest Footballer in History
Former two-division Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Conor McGregor on Instagram (a social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) appreciated the tears of Portugal national team striker Cristiano Ronaldo after a missed penalty in the 1/8 final match of the 2024 European Football Championship.
McGregor called Ronaldo the greatest footballer in history. “God bless you, brother! The past is glory! The present is history!” he said.
Ronaldo burst into tears after missing a penalty against Slovenia in extra time in the 1/8 final match of Euro 2024. In the 105th minute, the Portuguese earned a penalty. Ronaldo shot on target, but Slovenian Jan Oblak blocked the shot. The Portuguese team later won the penalty shootout.
Portugal came out of the group in first place at the current Euro, having scored six points in three matches. In the quarter-finals, the team will play France. The Portuguese national team became the European champion in 2016.
