Russian goalie changes club in NHL

NHL Club Vegas Signs Russian Goalie Ilya Samsonov

Russian goalie Ilya Samsonov has changed clubs in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported on the website of his new club, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Samsonov signed a one-year, $1.8 million contract. The team also agreed to a two-year extension with Russian forward Pavel Dorofeev. His average annual salary will be $1.835 million.

Samsonov played for the Toronto Maple Leafs for the previous two seasons. During the 2023-2024 season, the 27-year-old Russian was sent to the waiver draft and to the farm club. From 2019 to 2022, Samsonov played for the Washington Capitals.

The Vegas Golden Knights are the 2022/2023 Stanley Cup champions. In the final, the team defeated the Florida Panthers, who won the trophy in the 2023/2024 season.
