O Brazil will face Colombia this Tuesday, at 10 pm (Brasília time), for the third and final round of the group stage of the Copa América. In a press conference before the match, Alisson, the national team’s starting goalkeeper, commented on his form and highlighted his commitment to the team.
“Longevity is linked to consistency. I always want to be the best goalkeeper in Brazil, England and the world. Training is essential for that. From the moment your career reaches a certain point, you see that other choices make a difference. I have to work really hard to arrive at games well prepared. Always play well to convince Dorival to call me up and choose me as number 1. The competition is very strong, other goalkeepers are always here too, like Éderson. I have focused a lot on consistency, and I believe that is the reason I have been wearing the Brazilian National Team shirt for so many years,” began the Liverpool goalkeeper.
Alson analyzed the Colombian squad and spoke about shots from outside the area, a weapon used against Brazil in recent matches. “Regarding shots from outside the area, they have been a weapon that teams have used a lot against us. Everyone needs to be careful, I don’t play alone. We need to neutralize these long-range shots. We need to minimize the risks. If we don’t concede any goals, we will always be close to victory.”
“As a team, we are concerned about long-range shots. They have quality, not just James. I know Luis Díaz well. He is very creative and finishes very well. It is a team with a lot of quality that will present us with many challenges, but we are preparing to neutralize their chances. It is a pact that we have between us, to improve the defensive system. (It is also) a team that defends very well and gets good results. It is part of our mentality for this game, for the rest of the competition and for the entire trajectory of the team that we have ahead of us,” added the number 1.

In the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, the National Team was defeated 2-1, in a comeback, when visiting Colombia, with two goals from Luis Díaz – Alisson’s teammate at Liverpool. The goalkeeper, who came through the ranks at Internacional, highlighted the learning experience of the team after that setback.
“Maybe the feeling that remains from that match is that we could have won if we had done better, but we recognize the strength and quality of the opponent, they had many chances, I believe I played a great match that day, as a team we didn’t play so well for several reasons, but now we are in a new process, a new path”, he stated.
“We use the past as a stepping stone to grow, as a learning experience. We don’t throw away negative or positive experiences, we want to use them as a learning experience. That’s what we want to do so that tomorrow we can perform well and follow a path of success in the National Team,” he continued.
Alisson highlighted Taffarel as an asset for the National Team, as the former goalkeeper transfers experience to the athletes.
“A great advantage that we, the national team’s goalkeepers, have is having Taffarel as our goalkeeping coach. He passes on all his experience on a daily basis, in our relationships. He helps us a lot, not only because of the quality of his work on the field, but because of the experience of having been a great goalkeeper, of having gone through the things that we are experiencing. It is a great honor and pride to work alongside him,” he concluded.
Brazil and Colombia face each other this Tuesday, at 10 pm, at Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara (California).
