On Tuesday, July 2, Tour de France 2024 will live his first queen stage in the fourth stage of the edition. The cyclists will start from Pinerolo to travel 140 kilometers and end in Valloire. Furthermore, it will be the first mountain stage of the edition.
The route will test the runners’ legs, as they will have two second-category mountain passes and one special category mountain pass ahead of them.
From the beginning, they will gradually ascend for almost 40 kilometers in a row until they reach Sestrierethe first 2nd category mountain pass with a gradient of 3.7%. From there, they will have a short break, only 10 km downhill, before going up again.
The port of Montgenevrealso a 2nd category climb with a gradient of 5.9%, will mark the halfway point of the stage and there may already be an escaped group fighting to be crowned at the finish line.
Crossing the border from Italy to France, the cyclists will have one last challenge ahead of them, the port of Galibierbefore finishing the stage in Valloire. This special category climb, known for its difficulty and its historical importance in the French race, has a length of 17.6 kilometres and an average gradient of 6.8%.
Whoever reaches the peak of the pass first will have a great chance of winning the stage. The stage can be followed Live on eitb.eus (14:55) and ETB1 (15:00).
