With one less player, Chile is tied with Canada and is eliminated from the Copa América

Chile drew 0-0 with Canada this Saturday, at the Orlando City Stadium, in the final round of the Copa América group stage and was eliminated from the competition. Left-back Gabriel Suazo was sent off in the first half and left the Chilean team with one less player for the remainder of the match.

With the result, Chile finished in third place in Group A, with two points. While Canada finished in second place, with four, and advanced to the quarterfinals. Argentina finished at the top of the group, with nine points and 100% success rate. And Peru came in last, with one point.

In the next round, Canada will face the first-place team in Group B, which is currently occupied by Venezuela, but there is still one round left to be played. Regardless of the opponent, the Canadian team will play next Friday, at 10 pm (Brasília time), at AT&T Stadium, in Dallas, USA.

The match started evenly, with both teams looking for victory. In the 27th minute of the first half, Gabriel Suazo was sent off and left Chile with one less. The left-back stopped Canada’s counterattack with a foul from behind on Richie Laryea and received a second yellow card.

In the final stage, despite being at a numerical disadvantage, Chile tried to apply pressure and Canada managed the match. In a busy second half, the teams created some opportunities, but failed to score.

Towards the end of the game, in the 45th minute, Canada managed to score a goal, with Tani Oluwaseyi, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Thus, the match ended in a goalless draw.
