San Jose nominated Russian defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov for the NHL waiver draft
The National Hockey League (NHL) club San Jose Sharks put Russian defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov on the waiver draft. About this on social networks X journalist Elliott Friedman reported.
It is noted that San Jose placed the Russian on an unconditional waiver draft in order to buy out the contract. Knyzhov’s current agreement with the club was valid until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
Knyzhov, 26, has been playing for San Jose since 2020. In total, he played 81 games in the NHL, scoring three goals and making nine assists.
Earlier on June 29, four Russian hockey players were selected in the NHL draft. The Montreal Canadiens selected forward Ivan Demidov with the fifth pick, defenseman Anton Silaev left the draft with the tenth pick, the New Jersey Devils secured the rights to him, the Nashville Predators selected forward Egor Surin with the 22nd pick, “ Calgary Flames – forward Matvey Gridin, 28th.
